Live music will once again resonate across the East Coast’s tallest living sand dune system as Friends of Jockey’s Ridge prepare to host Concert on the Dunes featuring a star-studded lineup.
The evening of entertainment is scheduled to run from 6 p.m. to 8:45 p.m., featuring a diverse lineup including alternative rock band Everything, best known for their 1998 single “Hooch,” local artist Suzie Jacuzzi, and student performers from the Mustang Music Outreach Program.
To support the park’s mission, the Friends of Jockey’s Ridge will host a special Membership Reception beginning at 5 p.m. Reception guests will enjoy several exclusive benefits, including preferred parking and a dinner with drinks served in the Community Room. Additionally, attendees of the reception will have access to the “Art From The Edge” exhibition and prime concert viewing from the park’s newly opened boardwalk.
General attendees have three primary parking options, as parking is strictly prohibited on Highway 158. While limited space is available at the main Jockey’s Ridge parking lot at 300 W. Carolista Drive, two satellite options will open at 5 p.m. at Pirates Quay Shopping Center and the Nags Head YMCA. Shuttles will run throughout the evening from the YMCA lot to the park; those parking at Pirates Quay should use the sidewalk to reach the YMCA shuttle stop.
Outer Banks Catering and Events will serve as the on-site food provider, offering a selection that includes items such as tuna nachos for $18, buffalo shrimp wraps for $15, and family favorites like cheeseburgers or chicken tender baskets for $13. Desserts including beignets and churros are available for $8. Guests are reminded that the possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages is strictly prohibited within Jockey’s Ridge State Park.
To ensure the protection of the National Park’s fragile ecosystem, guests are encouraged to bring only what they can carry, such as blankets and low-profile chairs, and to follow “Leave No Trace” principles.
