The N.C. Department of Transportation’s Ferry Division will hold a career fair today in Hatteras to recruit temporary administrative associates to help with the division’s new toll collection operations.
The career fair will be held from: 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday at the Hatteras Ferry Terminal, 59063 N.C. 12, Hatteras.
New hires will serve as front-line customer service and toll collection staff at ferry terminals on the North Carolina coast.
The positions are entry level and training will be provided. Employees will work a seven days on, seven days off schedule.
People interested in these entry-level opportunities are encouraged to attend the career fair. Those interested can bring their resume and may be able to interview and receive a contingent job offer while onsite. Applicants can either complete a paper application at the career fair or apply online through Workday at the N.C. Jobs website.
State law enacted this summer directs the NCDOT Ferry Division to establish and begin collecting tolls on all ferry routes starting Jan. 1, 2027. The law means tolls will soon be required on the system’s currently untolled ferry routes: Currituck-Knotts Island, Bayview-Aurora, Hatteras-Ocracoke and Cherry Branch-Minnesott Beach. Tolls are already collected on the division’s other routes.
Today’s career fair was originally set to happen in September but had to be rescheduled after last month’s nor’easter.
