Local non-profit Outer Banks Forever is inviting community members and visitors to celebrate World Ranger Day by sharing kind words and appreciation for employees at our national parks.
World Ranger Day, recognized July 31, is an annual occasion held to honor park rangers around the globe who protect critical natural and cultural resources, as well as to remember those who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
Organizers are highlighting the contributions of National Park Service personnel stationed at Cape Hatteras National Seashore, Fort Raleigh National Historic Site, and Wright Brothers National Memorial for their dedication to preserving the region’s historical and environmental heritage.
“Your service is appreciated not just today, but every day,” Outer Banks Forever said in a statement addressed to current and former National Park Service employees and volunteers.
In recognition, Outer Banks Forever is encouraging members of the public to submit notes of encouragement or share personal memories from their visits to the Outer Banks national parks. Submitted messages will be shared directly with local park staff.
