Nags Head to honor Dolly Parton with outdoor ‘9 to 5’ screening on Oct. 2

High winds may have postponed the initial celebration, but the Town of Nags Head is ready to honor the beloved Dolly Parton with a special outdoor screening of her feature film debut at Dowdy Park this Friday.

Originally scheduled for September 25, now dubbed endearingly as “9-to-5 Day” by Dolly Parton enthusiasts, the event was pushed back due to unsafe wind conditions. The rescheduled tribute, featuring Parton’s 1980 feature film debut, 9 to 5, is now set for tomorrow, October 2, at 7:15 p.m., with the film beginning promptly at 7:30 p.m.

The free event invites attendees to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and their best Dolly-inspired attire. Big hair, fringe, rhinestones, and denim are strongly encouraged, and organizers noted an unofficial prize will be awarded for the “Best Dolly Fan” in attendance. Free popcorn will be provided to guests who bring their own bowls.

Dowdy Park is located at 3005 S. Croatan Highway in Nags Head.
