Local first responders invite members of the public to participate in a commemorative march to honor the lives lost during the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the tragedy.
The annual “March to Remember” will take place Friday, September 11. Participants will gather at 7 a.m. for registration at the Kill Devil Hills Fire Department Station 14 and Dare County EMS Station 1 located in Kill Devil Hills.
The march officially begins at 8:46 a.m., the exact time American Airlines Flight 11 struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center, departing from the station to the Wright Brothers National Memorial before returning.
Attendees are encouraged to wear apparel that honors fallen heroes and those who sacrificed their lives.
