‘Do It Like Dolly’: Outer Banks Pridefest adds tribute costume contest to Saturday’s festivities

A tribute honoring the late Dolly Parton has been added to event calendar for the 15th annual Outer Banks PrideFest as OBX Pride, Inc. presents the “Do It Like Dolly” Tribute Costume Contest taking place in the middle of the festival at 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 12.

The contest offers festival-goers an opportunity to pay homage to the legendary artist’s legacy of kindness, campy wardrobe, and historic support for the LGBTQIA+ community. Attendees are encouraged to dress in their best Dolly-inspired attire, from towering wigs and rhinestones to vintage country wear.

Hotline Outer Banks serves as a sponsor for the costume contest, alongside festival sponsors 99.1 The Sound – WVOD, OBX Pride, Inc. and The Outer Banks Life. Tickets for other scheduled festival events including the Drag Brunch and Out at Sea Sunset Cruise remain available for purchase on the website through Thursday, September 10.
