Competition has been called OFF for the day at the WRV Outer Banks Pro Presented by Pacifico, a World Surf League (WSL) men’s Qualifying Series (QS) 2,000-level event. The swell that provided opening day action dissipated, forcing contest organizers to wait on a looming wind swell to resume men’s Round of 64, Heat 9.
“We were super fortunate to run 20 heats yesterday, getting halfway through the Round of 64. That swell has dropped off significantly, and today’s conditions are uncontestable,” said WSL Tour Manager Brian Robbins. “We’ll come back tomorrow morning to see if the wind swell that’s anticipated begins to show. There’s a chance we’ll go on hold until the afternoon and take advantage of that swell as it is meant to show later in the day. A big thank you to WRV and Pacifico, and the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau for hosting us and their dedication to professional surfing.”
When action gets back underway, Challenger Series competitor Luke Guinaldo (USA) takes on Chase Niemann (USA), Asher Craft (PUR), and Round of 88 standout Darshan Antequera (CRC) in the Round of 64, Heat 9.
Plus, 2022 event victor Michael Dunphy (USA), 2025 runner-up Wheeler Hasburgh (CAN), perennial Championship Tour (CT) qualification threat Jett Schilling (USA), East Coast standout Blayr Barton (USA), and more make their debuts.
